FIND US AT THE FORGE, FOUNTAINBRIDGE (viewforth/dundee st. EH11 1AB) ON SUNDAY 13th AUGUST - AS PART OF THEIR "BABY PIANODROME SHOWER"
A miniature version of the Pianodrome has been growing at the Forge, Fountainbridge and it is almost ready to meet you. It's an open circular social and musical space for all to enjoy at any time. This Sunday its inauguration will include performances by Will Pickvance and Dave House, possible singing performances and a reading of a new play by Uma Drragon. We finish with a fire and jam from 11pm – all welcome to join with voices and acoustic instruments. WE'LL BE SHARING AUDIO FROM "HOME SWEET HOME" INSIDE THE PIANODROME AT 6.30PM AND "UP NORTH" INSIDE A SHIPPING CONTAINER BETWEEN 7PM&8PM. Gorgeous weekend in Dumfries and Galloway at the Scottish Permaculture Weekend (https://scotland.permaculture.org.uk/) where there was a brilliant array of workshops and discussions, we loved meeting the Gypsy Cob and Corlais horse loggers, weaving woolen rugs and dancing under the stars to Samson Sounds - thanks everyone who organised and attended!
The caravan hosted two performances, our audio installation "Home Sweet Home" and the premier of "Up North" - poems, song and shadow spills for the cardinal compass point, here's what folk had to say about the shows... HOME SWEET HOME "A beautiful mix of sound and comfort. I could easily make the caravan "my home" " "Very absorbing, the voices told a really interesting story...loved the musical background vocals and the whole atmosphere of the caravan, very moving considering how fractured and impermanent a lot of peoples homes now are" "Lovely dreamy soundscape and impressions of home. Beautifully presented in an interesting space" UP NORTH "It felt like being a child again - in a positive and open way - ready to learn and absorb - beautiful and lovely. I've never seen anything like it" "The performance was very inspiring and wonderful. The approach of such gentle mediums to deal with events and happenings in our natural world was a breath of fresh air. We'd love to cross paths again" "A little lantern in dark times, thank you so much for being and presenting this to us, I'm so glad to have experienced this" "The colours and collage and music transported me to a watery dreamscape. Thank you for this total imagination immersion!" "I love the delicacy of the colours, the cut out shapes evoking sea memories, the sounds. I found this show really magical, serious and light all at the same time" Dearest friends of Swallow The Sea, We are full of glee after a wonderful first outing with the caravan, to Knockengorroch Festival in South West Scotland, where we were met with a warm, warm welcome. www.knockengorroch.org.uk Thanks to EVERY ONE of you for helping to make this happen!! We had two shows to share, with some more up our sleeves for the future. 'Home Sweet Home': “A transformative home-coming experience. The banal becomes extraordinary, every day domesticity a universal expression of individual perception. Sensitively put together; one doesn't want to leave the installation.” 'Chinterviews': “Wonderful surreal experience. Should be a part of all festivals!” Watch this space for a wee film of Chinterviews. Next stop, the Scottish Permaculture Gathering, taking place at The Hidden Mill, Dumfries and Galloway. 30th June-2nd July 2017 DOOR OPEN DREAMING IN OUR OPEN STAGE
